Bachelor in Education (B Ed)
B Ed is a one-year programme for training of teachers. After completing this programme, the candidates become eligible for appointment as teachers in High Schools and Intermediate colleges. Admission to B Ed classes is done through an entrance examination conducted by a university designated by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in concurrence with the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).
B Ed programme consists of four types of theoretical and professional activities:
Part I: Six theory and one optional papers of 100 marks each
Part II: Practical course of 100 marks
Part III: Practice in-teaching of 200 marks
Part IV: Educational tour, co-curricular activities and preparation and presentation of term papers.
B Ed students often remain busy throughout the session. They are required to go to and stay at any place, university/institute or city of educational importance generally outside the state for about 10 days. This study tour is an essential part of B Ed and counts for the final B Ed result.
